Lent

Today is Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent.  I have often toyed with the concept of Lent but not taken it very seriously.  When I was in my early 20's a girlfriend and I would nominate something to give up that we never really had anyway - a cheats way to make a sacrifice for Jesus.  Today when I told my husband and Father-in-law that it was Lent my FIL joked that he's going to 'give up giving up things'.

This year I am taking a challenge inspired by Memories on Clover Lane a gorgeous blog you should definitely check out.  This house proud mum is purging 40 bags in 40 days.

When I told a friend that today she was a bit taken aback - 40 bags is a lot.  I still think I can do it.

I'm going to use plastic shopping bags which are smaller than say a regular garbage bag.  I have recently done a great deal of spring cleaning but I am convinced there is still 40 bags of excess stuff in our lives.  I haven't planned it out exactly but I do plan on targeting every room and I also plan to discard some 'cyber' rubbish'.  Let's just say my computer filing system is not pretty and my desktop is a disaster.

As I've been sick over the last week today Noah and I are going to start with a bit of a cheats bag and rake up all the bougainvillea debris in the yard.  Easy on the brain and I think I can convince Noah to do most of the work.

Why don't you join me it'll be fun and imagine how organised your house will be come that lovely 5 day Easter break.  One bag a day is pretty manageable.

Housekeeping

Just a little housekeeping note that the commenting system has changed.  I have been getting some abusive comments from some people that I thought my little blog could do without so from now on all comments will come to me first for moderation before they appear on the comment page.  Please still leave comments because I love them and after all that is part of the fun of blogging.

Siblings

Daddy hasn't posted in eons, but I'm just feeling so positive about our IVF transfer this morning that I'm declaring that these are Noah's new siblings. Go little guys,  keep dividing, stay strong, and transform into beautiful little babies... you couldn't wish for a better mummy XXX

Cuteness

Toilet training is still very much the hot topic around these parts.  Mostly it is still going really well - almost too well.  Me thinks the boy has almost become too confident and is waiting too long and then oops - we have had a couple of puddles.  All part of the journey I guess and how can I be mad when this is how my washing line looks.

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot

The heat in Perth at the moment is oppressive.  I can't remember the last time it wasn't hot and the humidity is killing me.  I think everyone has had enough - kids and adults alike seem grumpy.  It's hard to get out and do much because it is too damn hot all the time .  Today I'm having one of those days when you just feel depressed for no decent reason then Noah woke up in a mood and I was at breaking point.

Then I had a brainwave - ICE CREAM.  We jumped in the car headed to the nearest drive through bought two 50cent cones and life is looking a lot sweeter.

The World According to Noah

Noah:  Mummy I have a baby in my tummy
Me:  really is it a boy or a girl baby
Noah: a boy
Me: what's his name?
Noah: I already told you (uh no you didn't I think I would remember having had this conversation before)
Me: Can you please tell me again
Noah: Buster

Noah:  Mummy you have a baby girl in your tummy and her name is Suzie
Me: (speechless)
